    Rain delay in hub city

looks like we are gonna get screwed by mother nature if they can't get these games in...NCAA will send higher ranked team to Super Regional... radar doesn't look good.... Mother Nature hasn't screwed us this bad since the Artie Cosby field goal.... it could happen again... Still Can't believe that field goal didn't go in...

    That one hurt...

Game or games can still be played tomorrow, but will that field be in shape for the NCAA's approval to play? I guess it happens, but I've never heard of a college baseball field with apparently this poor of drainage. 70% chance of rain tomorrow mainly after 1PM.

I can't either on the field goal.

Surely they can get 1 in today and the other tomorrow if we win. Or both tomorrow

If we play one game and win it, then NCAA rules state that the head to head winner advances (That would be us). If there is a tie in head to head, then they go to higher seed.

If we can't get either game in, USM goes for being undefeated. Right now, the regional has five games completed.

Looks like the heavy stuff coming up from the NO area may go just to the east of Hattiesburg. I have no clue how much rain the baseball field has gotten or the condition of the field.

This is very interesting. It basically means we are now in a must win 1 game series for both teams mindset. USM can no longer afford to lose this next game because if they do and the 2nd game doesn't get played we will advance not them. Both teams are now in do or die mode. USM might now know this yet. Shhh nobody tell em haha

That would be bad ass if we won the one game and it got rained out and we were able to go. I'd laugh.

Yep. Their beat writer has been tweeting about it.

We have to get this next game in. But if we do and we win, suddenly the pressure is on them to get the 2nd in.

No all they have to do is hope for delay and there will be no game.

Then their beat writer is also wrong. There has to be a procedure in place for scenarios like this, though. They can't just keep delaying until next weekend.

ETA: Carskadon, OTOH, is saying that the regional must be completed by tomorrow and if not, USM advances. That would indicate that they advance regardless unless we get 2 full games in and we win both.

Just so us slow folks can understand, we have to beat USM twice before midnight to go to supers??

There's about to be a window of dry weather and then it's going to set in and rain and rain and rain. Then it's going to rain some more just for good measure.

Why the hell didn't we play at 9 or 10 this morning? Can they not look at a radar/weather and see there was a high probability of rain after one today?
