That'd be huge then. Have self ready to go at first sign of trouble

Think this is the first time our pitching staff gave up these many runs in a long time. Hopefully we can take the series in game 3.

I'll give Cann and Henderson credit for not using our best in a losing effort. Would've been easy to go to self down 2 in 7th

Even if they pitch Mize he had elbow soreness so they rested him. Would you risk losing him for a year and a half to win a series? You have to think that he would have a very very small leash if they do pitch him.

Trying to win the sec can make coaches make shortsighted decisions. I'm sure the kid is trying to get the ball, which could be a bad decision for him career wise

Yep. We have our best arms available for the night cap.

I don't see Butch doing that even if Mize wants to go out there.

Pilk, Self, Barlow should be weekend rotation at A&M

All I'm going to say about this- I'm tired of pitchers that don't attack the zone and challenge hitters. It pisses me off. Having 10+ BB's and HBP's is unacceptable.

Now let's kick their ass in game two.

Agreed. Auburn is a feast or famine offensive team. But if you look at their stats they had maybe 2-3 hard hit balls all night and scored most of their runs off of our wildness. 7 walks 5 HPB that lead to 12 of their 17 runs is a tragedy.

In Gordon's defense- he is single batting cycle guy at the moment . Anything more, you are risking total implosion

Todd, what will it take to get Quinten Holmes to Starkville? He looks like the perfect replacement for Mangum. Having those two in the order at the same time next year batting 1 and 2 will be fun.

Todd is the expert, but a national rank of 26 by Perfect Game usually equates to a 1st round pick in the MLB draft. Only if Holmes is the son of a diehard MSU alumnus and baseball super fan like One of us - he will never be a dog

Yeah, it sucks. I hate losing players like him every year. Could you imagine adding a player like Austin Riley to this team who could have been our starting third baseman and be a shut down pitcher out of the bullpen? This team would be that much better. Instead he takes the $1.5 million to the Braves. I don't really blame them but going to college gets you to the majors quicker and depending on your home situation. You could turn $1.5 million into $6 million easily plus be in position to make the majors that much quicker then just going straight from high school. Also, look at Fenter if he had come here that would have been another quality arm in the bullpen and he was close to coming here. Heck, if Kruger comes back (and they made his number at the last possible second) there's another 10+ HR bat to protect Rooker.

Unfortunately Fenter would have been TJ #8 he would be like Parker Ford as a recovery player
