Excellent coaching job by Cann. He keeps this up it would be very hard to decide between him, Thompson, and Mingione for Coach of the Year. He is also ahead of his former boss Paul Manierie (sp??).

Funny that our naysayers are never around when we win... I guess this 2 of 3 was "fools gold" too?!?

Prior to the weekend I would have said there is a <1% chance we win the series without winning on Friday. This team is so impressive in so many different areas, and they are fun as hell to watch!

With all the injuries, surgeries, base-running brain farts, and missing personnel... that we are tied for the lead in the West and the SEC really defies credulity. The players have moments of skill, sure, and Rooker is a beast... but Cann must be doing some kind of voodoo because it seems at times like the team is held together with duct tape but still holds together for the W.
I did not expect to win this series after that first game. Hail State.

He is from the New Orleans area.

I think coming into the weekend we had 10-11 wins vs top 100 teams. So we either have 12-13 now. That a lot. And at least four of those are on the road and could be five depending on where Memphis is now in RPI.

Three of the four are either current or former MSU coaches/assistant coaches hired by Cohen. You add in Lane Burroughs and what he is doing at La Tech and that's pretty remarkable.

What you can't quantify is Coach Cann's leadership and how he has made this team resilient to adversity. These are some non-quitting, hard-headed sons-of-a-gun...give up 3 in the 1st inning, they are not discouraged. And it helps that we have Superman in a Maroon and White uniform...
Our boys are probably thinking, "we should have swept!"

We came pretty close to doing that.

Bragg does deserve AB's but he doesn't have a position. So he can DH. And saying Stovall = Alexander defensively at 3B is ludicrous. We didn't even want to put Stovall at 3B early in the year last year over Gavin when he was booting balls all over the place.
But lets just forget the defensive thing altogether. Name 9 hitters on our team better than Alexander. You simply can't do it. And if your touting Poole's whopping .258 average in SEC play since the Arkansas series, let us know Alexander's as well. Or tell us Poole's stats for all SEC games. Compare apples to apples.

We didnt want to start Stovall at 3B last year because he was a true freshman PLUS we had to have Collins bat
Poole is hitting .258 since UPig in SEC play
Belmont is hitting .172 since UPig in SEC play
Name 9 hitters better than someone hitting .170 in SEC play???? That's easy- anybody not named Belmont
