Potential for major severe weather event for parts of AL and GA tomorrow

This map will update again at 12:30, but all the ingredients are coming together for a major severe weather outbreak tomorrow including long track strong/violent tornadoes. Multiple rounds of severe weather are possible starting early in the morning, but the heavy hitters, if they happen, would be most likely in the afternoon to evening. If you live in this area or have family that does, make sure they know where there shelter locations are now and can actually access them. Here are a few safety tips for severe weather:

    Have helmets for the kids.
Let someone know where you plan on taking shelter in your home so if it is hit they know where to start looking.
Keep your phone charged and on your person.
Have a whistle on you to alert rescuers should it be necessary.
If severe weather does look to be imminent, stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Stuck in traffic is no place to stare down a violent tornado.

Could this storm system bust like the one in MS did last week? It could. However, a bust for this system would still include severe weather occurring. I don't think this one will completely bust. Just have to see how it plays out, but the potential is there for things to get very interesting.

Appreciate the info. I'm in Knoxville all week on business and will be traveling around East Tennessee. What do you think I can expect there? Appreciate all your info.

The tornado threat may be a little lower that far north but you are definitely in the cross hairs of severe weather as it looks now Just may be a bit more of a wind/hail threat there.

If I can shake free then I plan on being in AL somewhere. Probably get over there in the morning and make a day of it. If I'm going to drive 300 miles I might as well get my money's worth.

Middle TN is included in this severe weather threat. It continues to shift slightly east of Nashville but we are right on the line so that doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy at all.

Birmingham looks to get interesting around noon today. We all know shit is about to hit the fan if James Spann drops the suspenders.
