If this is true and Freeze goes, it's the most Ole Miss thing ever because:

1) OM gets to tell the fans that the mean old NCAA didn't get Freeze.

2) OM gets to speak out of both sides of its mouth, arguing to the COI that they let Freeze go due to NCAA issues.

They get (somewhat) lighter penalties while pumping sunshine that Freeze escaped NCAA wrath, but stepped down because he such a great guy who made a personal mistake.

I think they are about a year too late on firing Freeze to lessen penalties. After Tunsilgate, you would be hard pressed to believe UNM is doing anything proactively. Freeze wanted the truth out so bad he immediately left the draft to get answers, not to avoid the press or anything.
