One thing no one is talking about is the fact that to coach at Ole Miss you pretty much HAVE to be willing to work closely with the Network. There are no ifs ands or buts about it and that limits who they can get to coach there. Most coaches don't want to end up like Barney Farrar or even Hugh Freeze because a show cause is something that will follow you around for the rest of your career. And most people don't want to go from Ole Miss to Jones JC.
So, my point is maybe some of these coaches with Ole Miss ties know this- and I'm 100% Johnson does since not working with the Network was much of the reason why Cutcliffe was fired in the first place- and so the only SEC option in their home state without compromising their ethics is MSU.
At any rate, I'm not sure why this has just now become such a big deal with our fans. Bob Tyler had a degree from Ole Miss. Easily one of the best coaches we have ever had. Tom Goode, Joe Lee Dunn, Melvin Smith, Tony Hughes, and others I'm sure have coached at both. That and the fact that some of our fans seem to assume that because someone coaches in the NFL that they can't recruit just absolutely confuse me right now.

Unless you are Hugh Freeze I guess. That poor guy had all that going on right under his nose but apparently didn't have a clue what was going on. That's why he got almost nothing while his assistants got multiple year show causes.***

Again maybe so but I'm pretty sure we've had a couple of guys that have signed with us withut taking an OV.

Recruiting to me, is entertainment. I don't know why that's so hard for you to understand.

thank you Ari. I consider your posts as just something I'm interested in. Those who want to put you on trial are just whiney bitches. I'm just a MSU fan who likes to lurk and observe and pass some time. You give folk like me something to read and enjoy and pass some time. In the end, it's no big deal. there's more important things going on in my life.

Agree, I understand different strokes for different folks and all but why does an MSU legacy from Ponotoc want to go to LSU, which has a completely different culture, after losing his LSU position coach AND we just got rid of the great OL recruit repeller (Hevesy) plus we now have a much more likeable HC? Also our program is in as good a shape right now as its been in its entire history. Some things just make you scratch you head.

Do y’all just expect a kid, where he has been committed to for months, flip just because we changed our OL coach? Wow

Exactly. Cole Smith never wanted to go to State. The new staff simply gave us a chance. He's always liked LSU, and honestly, people really should go with their first intuitions. 80% of late flips are emotional reactions.

That's just not true. Cole came to a practice on Thursday to commit to MSU because he thought he was going to get offered. Hev said he wanted to see him in the spring 1st. That Saturday Cole went to LSU they offered & he committed on the spot. He's been to more MSU games this year than pretty much all of our commits. He loves MSU but there is a family dynamic working against us. Odds are low that it changes between now & Wednesday but Cole was all set to visit this weekend & flip to MSU. Those plans were changed & we'll see if the tide can turn these next few days.
