Weekend Cooking & Drinking Thread: Dak Attack Edition
Besides watching the Cowboys (never thought I'd say that), I have plans. Recovering from the funk.
-
Made a hop run to the Long Beach Market. I'll probably throw some backstrap on the grill later. This weather is incredible. I've been doing my work on the back porch this afternoon. May go look for some reds in the kayak tomorrow morning. Beast, if one were to launch over on the West side of the Bay is there somewhere better for a kayak to launch than Bay Marina? I was thinking Bayou Caddy, but any other ideas? I rarely launch on that side of the Bay...as in almost never. Oh and HAIL DAK!

We're going out tonight, but I'll definitely be cooking something tomorrow and Sunday night. Not sure what I'll cook; will have to see what looks good at the store, but I'll definitely give y'all an update.
At 5 o'clock I had a gin martini, and now I'm drinking a German lager...waiting on my bird to get back from work so we can go eat....she better hurry, lol.

Just rolled in to Warner Robins, GA for 2nd round of All State Band auditions with BD Jr. A good luck dinner at Steak n' Shake of a Triple Stack with bacon and cheese. Kid will be banging drums at 8:00 am to show he is one of the best high school percussionists in GA.

What about LaFrance? If I was launching a Yak I'd do it at the launch on the Pass Side of the bridge and fish back towards the Jourdan.
-
Bay Marina is a nice paddle to get to the Jourdan. Where exactly are you wanting to fish? if you were dead set on that side, you have the Hollywood Casino Launch. If you did launch out of Bay Marina, when you come out to the Jourdan, you're right across from the hole at the mouth of Catfish bayou where it's 20+ feet deep. You could also turn north up catfish bayou and its a nice sleepy little bayou. Like Rukus said, I would look at LaFrance too. It's a relatively short paddle to some bayous that look good on google earth. I've never fished them but they look fishy.

Glad your boy is a drummer. Does he also play marching percussion?

Yeah. He played bass his FR year and moved up to snare this year. Looks like he will Battery Capt. as a Jr. Kid is talented. He has made All-District in 7th, 8th, 9th, and now 10th grades and All-South Ga in 8th. My girl is a flute player. Has her FMB tryout in February.

Pass side is where I almost always go. I always forget about Lafrance, maybe because it's a bit of a haul from me, but damn it looks redfishy. If I don't make it there tomorrow, I will soon.

Awesome! I played snare too. I was on the FMB drumline for 8 years (through my undergrad and masters), and was drum captain for the last 4. Good luck to your daughter. It's a lot of fun.

LaFrance holds some good reds. You may as well be fishing in the LA marshes.

Reddish tacos and a disappointing end to one hell of a game.

Crowd Control is awesome. How was the Tropical Torpedo? I've been planning to try it.

It was actually pretty bad. I'm glad I only bought one. They usually put out good stuff, but I would not recommend this one.
