An NCAA Investigation unlike any other
This is coming from someone close to the investigation at OM. Definitely second hand info so take it for what it's worth. The NCAA has tried to conclude the investigation of OM on at least 3 previous occasions. However, each time they tried they to close it, they learned of additional violations happening at that time. Basically, they won't stop cheating long enough for their to be some sort of resolution to the case.
Heard there will definitely be a 2nd letter and it will not be pretty. From what I understand, this has never happened before during an investigation where a school will not stop cheating long enough for the investigation to end. I know, low post count and all that. I realize this is something we've probably all thought anyway.

There is noting like having a baby piss in your face while changing the diaper.

I think at some point LOIC has to be levied against their athletics department. 3 sports on probation, and the way their AD 'handled' the Tunsil loaner vehicle should have gotten a LOIC levied to begin with.
This along with Freeze arranging private meetings between boosters and recruits will the the death knell of their program for the forseeable future. Anything else at this point is icing on the cake.

I used to wish the NCAA would go ahead and punish them, but after seeing their 70th ranked recruiting class, Id be fine with this thing stringing out forever. Would destroy the program even longer.

Yep, a long slow torture. A death penalty of a thousand cuts.

This may be true, as the SMU investigation technically ended and they went on probation, only to continue cheating and get the death penalty. Ole Miss on the other hand, apparently just keeps right on cheating through the entire investigation. I look forward to seeing just how bad the 2nd/amended NOA is.

This is what happens when you have a zealous fan base trying to out do each other. Too many pieces to control. It's like a ponzi scheme. Sooner or later it get too big and you get caught. They just couldn't reel in all the fish. Too many fishing poles.

It wasn't just the fanbase. This stuff was organized at a very high level. It wasn't a bunch of individual fans acting on their own.

I understand that but once the investigation started I think the high level folks pulled back. Like I said it got too big and going too fast they could not stop the bolder from continuing rolling down the hill.

This is also what happens when the administration lies to the fan base.
99% of the fan base doesn't realize how bad things are. So why would they quit?
They would've been much better off if the administration told them, "things are bad. Cut it the 17 out"
Instead, they think it's business as usual.

Something I've thought about. What if the sheavior wasn't really being redshirted, but he was serving a suspension similar to the one tunsil served? Has anyone else considered this? Would make a lot of sense as to why he never saw the field.

When they said "Exemplary Cooperation" they meant with their recruits NOT the NCAA...give dem boys a break, they just heppin people out.

I don't think they did actually. If anything they doubled down.

Yeah, their legal bill backs that up. You don't waste $1.2m dodging the NCAA if you aren't "all in".

I'm not sure how much of it was within their control. They either decided they were screwed either way, so no reason to stop, or they put the word out to stop, and they found out that they didn't really control the situation.

They never believed they would get caught. They are smarter than everybody else- just ask them
