MS gulf coast restaurant question
You guys that live or frequent the gulf coast. Give me your recommendations on eating establishments. I know about the Half Shell Oyster House and I love it. But I'm not familiar enough with the area to branch out. Will be there next week and would like some suggestions. Other than Mary Mahoney's and the Half Shell because I know they are good. Thanks

a few recs:
Bay St Louis: Trapani's & Northshore. Both are nice seafood restaurants.
Pass Christian: Bachus on the beach
Long Beach: Steve's at the LB Marina. Probably gets my highest rating when I weight food quality vs value. Snapper Cat Island may be my favorite dish on coast. Harbor View Cafe is great for brunch & dessert. I'm not a cake guy but I get cake there.
Gulfport: Half Shell Oyster House or Capt Al's steak and shrimp. Don't go to Al's if you don't like steak and shrimp. Everything cooked in a pecan wood pit.
Biloxi: Mary Mahonney's.
Kiln: Dempsey's if you like a cool fried seafood joint

Steve's Marina was good in Long Beach when I was last down there. Been a few years, but hopefully hasn't changed.

A lot of the good stuff near you will be in Casino's.
In biloxi near you:
Doe's (in Margaritaville Resort so almost across the street from you)
Tien (in IP; different types of asian; also good)
Mignon's (in Palace)
A little bit of a drive:
Jia (in Beau; Asian fusion; very good)
Cora's (in whitehouse hotel)
The Reef (casual and touristy, but still good)
All the way in Gulfport:
Ajax (very casual; basically outdoor dining but good food)
Chimney's (a little higher end; classic coast food)
Corks and Cleaver (higher end; different style food)
In Long Beach:
Brackish (same guy that does Corks and CLeaver)
Darwell's (very casual dive but good food)
Hooks and Bacchus on teh beach are both good in the pass and Trapani's and Northshore are both good in the bay, but I wouldn't drive all the way there from Hera's. The only reason I would drive to even Gulfport is to get some authentic coast restaurants that aren't are nice but aren't in a casino.
Somebody should be able to give you some good recommendations in Ocean Spring that would be close. I usually end up staying in Gulfport when I'm down so I stay between the Bay and Biloxi, so it's been a while since I've been to OS. I used to stay in Biloxi just so I could be close enough to make a trip to Phoenicia's though.

I can't be much help as I don't eat that way all too much. Big Mike's Speakeasy, Mary Mahoney's, Halfshell, Whitecap, Salute's, and Murky Waters. I would say Blow Fly Inn but I think it's still closed. Half Shell is our favorite for selection and price. As you know there are a lot more, those are just the ones I've had somewhat recently and can say were good. Most of those are in Gulfport and may not be what you're looking for.
