The comparisons are interesting. Even if OM is hit with sanctions on par with USC's, I'm thinking it'll hurt OM far worse. USC was able to retain most of its players and still recruit fairly well on name alone. It's going to be a rude awakening for OM since most of their fans seem to believe their name carries a whole lot more weight than it actually does.

Seriously, who cares what Patterson does? Let's just line up and whip that A$$ and it won't matter who they have as a QB. The obsession with them on this board borders on the absurd, and it makes us look ridiculous as a fan base! I have to work with a lot of bears and I get tired of hearing about how much we obsess over them.

It has really gotten bad. It's like our fans think that our success is solely based on them failing and it's not.

We won't beat LSU for Louisiana players. We won't beat Bama (or likely Auburn) for Alabama players. We need to absolutely dominate MS to build the base of a good team. That and Juco have to be our bread and butter. For that to happen we have to be option #1 in the state of Mississippi. Pretty simple equation if you think about it. We cannot play 2nd fiddle to OM and compete for championships. It's impossible.

It's also sports in MS. We talk about South Panola losing. The Shuckers from time to time and occasionally break a Tiger Woods is in sex rehab story. If it's relevant in sports in MS, it's likely going to hit this board. But by all means Clanga should continue letting bears tell him what he should and should not be upset about.

He may have more of a battle on his hands than he thought with Pellerin also.

That guy is bigger, presumably a better runner as well as a physical runner, and has a stronger arm than Kelly per "reports" and some video of him throwing it 70 yards on 1 knee. Not saying, just saying

Have you heard that they are under investigation? The reason we are playing second fiddle is because those bastards have a $$competitive advantage$$ on us.

Exactly...if they get what USC did than they are in major trouble. The initial transferring of players just magnifies/speeds up the process.

As for as players transferring and a high profile QB.
Barkley was very vocal about sticking it out which made a huge difference on players staying through the bowl ban. If Patterson was to leave...

There is not enough talent in-state for us to rely on year in and year out. We have to become a recruiting presence out of state. Until we start developing pipelines into LA and Georgia we will continue to hit a ceiling. We don't have to outrecruit LSU for kids, we need to out recruit Nebraska, Arkansas, and Miami for kids that LSU pass on. Same with Georgia kids. LSU and Georgia routinely sign about 12-15 in state kids a year. There are roughly 30 SEC players in LA and probably 55-60 SEC players in GA. The talent is there, we should have to beat out other programs for them.

Our best teams have relied on out of state kids. 2014 - Dak, Jrob, Preston Smith, D'Runnya, Ross, Dillon Day, Clausell, and Redmond were all out of state kids.

We will live and die by out of state recruiting. Look at the in-state crop this year, not enough OL, not enough DL, not enough LB's, not enough CB's, you could sign the top 12 kids in state this year, and you would be RB heavy and not sign a dominant DL.

Personally I think the board focuses too much on the bears, but its a message board, to each his own. I know I didn't feel better leaving Davis Wade stadium after losing to south alabama because the bears are about to get hammered by the ncaa, but maybe im in the minority.

    From Trading Places...YEAH

It's about sports. The investigation and the outcome of the investigation greatly affects us.

That's not obsession....Its our job. The Bares would love for us to "in fight" and call each other obsessed. Anything to keep us from talking about
THA HAMMER that's comin down on that arse.

Great post. I'll add that we are NEVER going to dominate MS recruiting to the extent that would be required to become a dominate force nationally based on that alone (even if the number of available prospects drastically increases). Historically, the absolute best case scenario for either state or OM is to pull about 60% of the top 12 to 15 prospects that decide to remain in-state, with the worst case being the opposite end of that spectrum (40%). And W/L records really don't matter one bit. Look at 2011 where we finished with 9 wins and a Top 15 ranking, and were up against a 4 win OM team heading into a lame duck season for their head coach. All that in our favor, and we still absolutely got our clocks cleaned on in-state recruiting. Fortunately for us, that ended up being a bust year for a lot of the big prospects, but we were still hard after all them and came up way short.

A year where either MSU or OM signs 80-90% of the CL 10 Most Wanted is literally never going to happen. Anyone who thinks the NCAA sanctions for OM are going to change that are kidding themselves.

If Kelly happened to get injured, he would hit the field pretty quick.

Freeze's plan is for him to start as a RS freshman. Hugh Freeze does not believe they are going to get hit hard by NCAA.

I DIDN'T SAY IF THEY WERE OR NOT.

I said it's what Hugh believes, because he has to believe it. He is very confident his faith will guide him and his team through this "dark time'.

He refuses to even think of the alternative.
Not only did Mississippi State embarrass LSU on this night. Davis Wade Stadium wrecked Tiger Stadium in music choice, atmosphere and, most of all, volume.

When I'm 80 and deaf, it's not going to be all those Springsteen concerts or Queen at Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans on Halloween Night in 1978, it will be this game...............Glen Guilbeau--Sherveport Times

He is the biggest media ass kisser I've ever seen as a coach.

Finebaum just said he would be on the show tomorrow live from Oxford, which seems to becoming a weekly time slot for Freeze

I honestly have never heard of a coach going on TV this often. He's obviously trying to do something.
