These guys have probably been throwing more pitches than we can fathom since they were in their single digit years. Of course their arms are gonna blow up at some point. There's a reason it's now essentially the norm for pitchers to need TJS at some point, and it can all be tracked back to pitching year round. And as RAYn pointed out, pitching itself is one of the most unnatural things a human body can do. The elbow isn't made to operate like that. It's just shit luck that all of them seem to be having their arms fall off at the same time.

And now a relevant question: Will we be the first team in the SEC to from Worst to First to Worst next season? Because if we lose all these guys on the mound, it's gonna be a looooooong year.
Sadly so WMD, been a disappointing off-season.

School starts soon anyway. None of them will be there much longer. Makes sense that he hit his cap and is done.

Amazing how one person can start a rumor and then many other people believe that person without knowing the facts.

Baseballfan could just be a baseball fan. He didn't proclaim to be an MSU baseball fan, unless he's posted that somewhere else. As long as he's not pushing an OM agenda or an anti-State agenda, he can hang around. Seems like he's got some level of decent knowledge knowing the mini-me stayed in a hotel all season (assuming that's completely true).

I'm a definite MSU baseball fan. Just wait and see how it shakes or if you are skeptical. You will see. No one wants to see these boys hurt. If you are not concerned about all the injuries somethings wrong. Do you see this many injuries in other teams?

Excellent news. I stand by my earlier post, though. Blaming Mini-Me for this rash of injuries is just nuts. There are so many other factors now, not the least of which is specialization and pitching year round from the time kids are 7 and 8.
It's the roller coaster of hope that this program keeps us on that makes it hell being a State fan. - CadaverDawg, 10/15/22

Very rarely if ever can an arm injury be pinned on one person or one instance. Ever though Johnson planned to be with us for one year there is no benefit to him in sabotaging our pitching staff.

If Pilkington is fine I think we will be OK. We won't win the SEC again probably but we should be good enough to get to the postseason. Yes we have questions but we have good talent.

This is true. These injuries are cumulative. Results of time, wear and tear and sometimes bad luck. These kids are throwing competitive pitches at a much younger age now and they have to be monitored closely. Dr Andrews ortho facility in Birmingham is one of my accounts and I have spoken at length with them over young arms. They need to take at least a 3 month break with no throwing activities at all, participate in other sports and work on overall conditioning and still no gurantees. Their rule of thumb is 100 competitive pitches a year times the kids age. Kids are going way over this every year and playing all year. Therein lies the problem with the cumulative wear and tear.

You're wrong on Wes Johnson and you're wrong on Pilkington. We don't need to wait and see how it shakes out. Johnson may have been a short timer but no more than any other coach. The guy moved mid-year so we have no way of knowing if he was short-timing or not. Now it has come out that Pilkington hit his innings limit, so look even more dumb. You have an agenda against Johnson, just admit it.
