    Strong rumor: Wommack to USM

He was DC there under Bower and Bower is on the search committee.

I've always heard Wommack isn't a great recruiter, but nonetheless, this would really hurt the Bears chances with Simmons, Knott, etc. I can't imagine highly ranked recruits such as those committing to a school without knowing what their defensive scheme would be going forward.

I think there's a firm in Birmingham running their defense now.*

Well according to Ole Miss fans, Allen is not qualified enough to be an SEC DC and would not be a splash hire. Or at least that's what I heard a couple weeks ago....

Lindsey at ASU will have to turn down the gig first. Also, I don't know much, but I can assure you USM isn't hiring an aging DC that doesn't recruit. LOL

Ole Miss will volunteer to pay Womack's entire 4 year contract at USM if they wait until after signing day to announce the hire.

Usm will hire offense I would think. Not defense.

I figure they'll give Chip Lindsey a chance. They'll want offense, and it makes sense to continue what Monken left behind, since he left due to success not failure. No clue if he's ready though, I mean he was an analyst in 2013. Two years of OC may have prepared him, I don't know.

Either way I think they delaying the inevitable. That program is not sustainable. Their best chance is to go hire a re-tread and hope he stays there a long time.

Would be shocked if that happens. If it does, USM has just given up

I thought Wommack was supposed to be the recruiter and Allen was the real X's and O's guy, hence the drop off on the field this year. If Wommack isn't a recruiter either, what has he been doing up there?

This. They would be crazy not to go after an accomplished OC somewhere.
