$1.3 Billion Powerball - What do you do??
I just threw in $10 on an office pool that looks like we are going to buy about 100 tickets (I'm buying more for just me).
Got me to thinking - $1.3 Billion is a pile of cash. Even if you take the cash option, you get $800 million before taxes.
We all agreed that if we win, we are all quitting and will have a reunion once a year at an island of our choice on the anniversary of the big win.
But what do you spend the $$$ on?
Your list is limited to 5 things:
1) Where will you live?
2) What is your car?
3) What is your "splurge"?
4) What is your dream sports related purchase/experience?
5) What would you do for MSU?
Mine:
1) Charleston - South of Broad
2) Porsche 356 Speedster
3) Minority ownership stake in Celtic FC
4) A round at Augusta with my Dad, my son, my two oldest friends, and 3 friends from State with John Daly and Bubba Watson played as a 2 team best ball drinking game.
5) Endow the "BrunswickDawg" Chair of the History Department, and give the rest of the DNF rebuild money.
Go...

1. Palm Beach, FL
2. Maybach Exelero
3. Private jet
4. Humphrey Coliseum full reno
5. Recruit
-
1. Nashville, TN
2. 1974 Plymouth Barracuda convertible - classic American muscle, baby
3. Scottish vacation home - I'm thinking a castle - third home in Starkville for sporting events, obviously
4. Full season Arsenal experience and then the World Cup
5. After I pay off the remainder of my student loan debt - Start a law school, drop some coin for the new DNF, and earmark a sizable chunk to be used solely for assistant coach salaries for all sports.
It's the roller coaster of hope that this program keeps us on that makes it hell being a State fan. - CadaverDawg, 10/15/22

1. Still live in Starkville
2. Lamborghine Aventador Roadster
3. Land. Lots of land scattered across the US and Internationally where I would build vacation homes. Main spots would be Colorado, Montana, TN Smokeys, and Ireland.
4. I'd just buy prime season tickets to MSU big three sports.
5. I'd find out how much it would take to pay Hev and Bracky to retire and write that check with a smile on my face.

1) Stay where I am. Maybe buy a fishing camp and hunting camp, or maybe just focus on good vacation spots.
2) The same. Not a car person. Might buy an old chevy belair convertible for cruising.
3) A boat. I'd probably buy a big boat and spend a year paying for a crew and island hopping, and then downgrade to a "small" boat that I can captain myself, probably around 42 feet, which I think is about the max of what I could handle without a captain.
4) I'd probably make a list of fish and go on charters until I have caught a trophy size version of each.
5) Idea #1 - Scholarship fund. Wouldn't do full scholarships, but offer say half scholarships to people graduating in particular majors (say engineering, accounting, finance), anything with a decent projected earning potential. I think this would get the most bang for the buck later on. Get lots of good students and get them through school without a lot of student debt and hope they in turn give back.
Idea #2 - Loan fund. Loan up to the cost of tuition at 10% interest with a prepayment penalty to anybody with a qualifying ACt score (say one point above the MSU average from the year before). 10% of the loan is forgivable for each year they live and work in Mississippi after graduation. Also allow students going on to graduate school to defer payment until their through with their grad school, residency, etc.

1. Will not set in one spot: Summer traveling the world, fall in the mountains, winter somewhere tropical.
2. 1974 Ford Bronco
3. Biggest ranch I can get in MT for $20MM. I assume a few healthy endowments gets me a skybox at DWS, so not putting that down.
4. See all MLB stadiums in one year. Attend the Super Bowl and World Series.
5. A. Doing good - Endow a large fund for the Center for America's Veterans and work very closely with them. This would be my day job.; B. MSU Sports - Find a way to endow scholarships for the baseball and softball teams; and endow assistant football coach salaries indexed to the SEC market rate for top rate assistant salaries.

1) Atlanta until kids are gone, likely on Lake Lanier.
2) Ferrari, 1985 4Runner with a V6 decked out and removable top, and a new escalade.
3) yacht on the gulf with a bat copter
4) I'll try to buy the Saints with a group of investors, but at minimum would have season tickets to everything and an RV pass with a new RV that's ready to put some miles on it (and a driver).
5) season tickets*** (the Political Hack School of Political Science would get a major overhaul along with the MPPA program)
I'd also make the Center for Missing and Exploited Children one of the most well funded charities in the world, hire the best investigative agents in the world to work for them, and provide NSA level technologies within legal limits to assist them.

Used to be some wild parties on Lake Lanier back in the day. Think Smoot and the Vikings - but with rich rednecks, the best from the Cheetah, and occasionally Ted Turner.
