#3 rated basketball class right now
Holy SHIT!! Ben Howland is exponentially better than I ever imagined. Thanks Adidas!! Time to turn my car into a mobile Adidas ad.

In 6 months since he took the job, Howland has signed or committed more composite 4*s than Andy Kennedy has in his entire career in Oxford.

You mean "Randy" Kennedy?

That is a ridiculous stat and I really don't look at that as a slight towards Kennedy as much as how amazing of a job Howland has done in such a short time. The man hasn't been coaching for two years and to have this type of impact immediately is really jaw-dropping. He is beating Maryland, Kansas, Indiana, Arizona State, Baylor, Kentucky and a hundred other schools for these players.

Not sure when AK's first class was, but the last 11 classes at UM have featured six composite 4* players. Howland has signed six 4*s or better in six months (Newman, Holman, Kegler, Herard, Carter, and Peters). This does not include Weatherspoon who signed with Ray but was contemplating leaving until Howland talked him into staying. This does not count Stapleton who was a highly sought after transfer with Iowa State and Alabama offers. This does not include Eli Wright who is a 4* on multiple sites but barely missed being a composite 4*. This also does not include Ado and/or Davis, who are both 4*s we may still sign.
Frankly, UM is about to be irrelevant. In three years, the idea of talking about them and comparing Kennedy to Howland will seem silly- if it doesn't already.

Good lord I'm so drunk from basketball recruiting success that Stapleton slipped my mind. That guy can touch the top of the backboard with his hops. He was the #2 rated Mississippi player his senior year.
-
Just curious because I don't know but is Kegler a one and done as well?
-
Amazing run by Howland. No reason to think it won't continue.

Guys- don't sleep on Eli either. My bro-in-law played BB at Vandy and is good friends with a guy that is currently working with him and says HE. IS. THE. TRUTH.
Our ENTIRE class is full of straight out ballers!

Smooth Lefty like Phil Mickelson. Can really stroke it and has great hops too. I love watching lefty guards. They shoot, move and jump at different angles than everyone is used to making them tough to guard yet easy to foul. And you're correct we are all sleeping on this great talent cause we are all drunk with success right now. THERES SO MANY OF THEM and we have more on the way. THIS IS ****ING GREAT!!! It's like waking up next to eight playmates every morning. Not sure which one to focus on but can't go wrong with whoever you choose.

I say this in all seriousness, THAT attitude about recruiting will definitely get you fired in Oxford especially if its football. Many less care about basketball but its still not an attitude they will like. Recruiting is the biggest area OM fans like to use to validate their superiority complex. And recruiting to them is measured in star value.

Wright signed with us today per 247.

I actually like the videos (although they're not a particularly creative knockoff). And I think Kennedy and UM are a good fit for each other. UM doesn't take basketball seriously, so they're not going to be able to get or keep a really good coach. Kennedy is a good enough coach to deserve better, but he's obviously got a little baggage from the international incident, and at least he is a good sport about the whole thing.

Wonder how much of that he will lose after the knee injury?

Isn't an ACL practically 100% recovery under normal circumstances in the modern era of sports medicine?
