An interesting view on objective success of SEC teams.
I got this from the rant, it really does drive home just how bad Northern Miss has been over the majority of my life.
Where does your school rank in big 3 sports since 1992(Posted on 7/20/15 at 7:10 pm)
This ranking includes every single SEC team and where they stand in each of the big 3 sports according to the following formula:
Football:
NC = 25 Points
SEC Champion = 10 Points
SEC Game Appearance = 5 Points
These are cumulative, i.e. the champion will really get 15 since they also made a game appearance.
Basketball:
NC = 25 Points
Final Four = 10 Points
Sweet Sixteen = 5 Points
NCAA Appearance = 1 Point
Not Cumulative and if it was vacated it didn't happen.
Baseball:
NC = 25 Points
CWS Appearance = 10 Points
NCAA Appearance = 1 Point
Not Cumulative
Football:
Alabama: 195 Points
Florida: 195 Points
LSU: 115 Points
Auburn: 80 Points
Tennessee: 70 Points
Georgia: 45 Points
Arkansas: 15 Points
Missouri: 10 Points
Mississippi State: 5 Points
South Carolina: 5 Points
Texas A&M: 0 Points
Mississippi: 0 Points
Kentucky: 0 Points
Vanderbilt: 0 Points
Basketball:
Kentucky: 170 Points
Florida: 107 Points
Arkansas: 63 Points
Tennessee: 31 Points
Mississippi State: 21 Points
LSU: 20 Points
Missouri: 20 Points
Vanderbilt: 20 Points
Alabama: 13 Points
Auburn: 11 Points
Mississippi: 11 Points
Georgia: 10 Points
Texas A&M: 10 Points
South Carolina: 3 Points
Baseball:
LSU: 203 Points
South Carolina: 101 Points
Florida: 81 Points
Arkansas: 54 Points
Vanderbilt: 53 Points
Mississippi State: 51 Points
Alabama: 43 Points
Georgia: 43 Points
Texas A&M: 43 Points
Tennessee: 35 Points
Auburn: 31 Points
Mississippi: 24 Points
Missouri: 9 Points
Kentucky: 5 Points
Notes:
Criteria was selected before any points were tallied.
Ties are in random order.
The date was selected to record everything after SEC expansion, aka the beginning of the modern era of college athletics.

It doesn't even count SEC Basketball or Baseball Tournament/Regular Season Championships.
We have at least three in each basketball and baseball in that time frame and 1 regular season basketball championship.

Dang, UNM does suck
Back that list up one year to 1991 and you add another SEC basketball championship for us and nothing for UNM.
Back it up and add the 80's and we add a ton for baseball (not much for football and basketball) but UNM adds nothing whatsoever.
To summarize: U. of North Mississippi has sucked my entire life. No wonder they're so bush league.

1992 is the best starting point since that's when the divisional format started. Did you know prior to the divisions the bears had played vandy more times than Bama & Auburn combined? That's how you build a "dynasty"!

And we have played Bama more than any other team on their schedule. The black bears pretty much played LSU and the easiest schedule they could manage. That is how Vaught built them into a contender.

Vaught was the master of the easy schedule. He played Bama, what, like 4 times in his entire career at umiss? and one of those was in a bowl game! Amazing how good you can be in the SEC when you avoid the best coach in the history of college football (debatable, I know) while your instate rival plays them, and loses to them, every. single. year. Then add in a couple of years where you petition the SEC to allow games against the likes of Chatanooga to count as SEC wins. His scheduling what simply amazing. Easily the best aspect of his coaching.

And our fans bitch that we aren't playing 1 or 2 tough OOC games when the SEC West is the toughest division in College Football History.
