John Michael Hankerson
Kid from South Bend, IN ran 4.25 "unofficial" at BigDawg this weekend.
His dad was a MSU sprinter back in the day.

A kid with a sub 4.3 40 from S. Bend has got to be a lock for the Irish, or so one

I like him. Have we offered?

Steve discussed him on the Boneyard. Said he doesn't know if he gets an offer, but in his (Steve) opinion, he's a guy you have to try and make room for. Said if you had a full class he'd certainly make it in but receiver slots are tight.

Looks like a playa. Were some of those highlights filmed at M M Roberts Stadium at USM? I counted only 10 fans in the stands.

He reminds me of a RB like a Brandon Holloway than he does a slot WR. If we're going to take a running back, and I know that's not a certainty or even likely, he's maybe the kind of RB we should take since it's not an area of need for us and he's different than a Nick Gibson or Alec Murphy. I think he would help us out more as a KR guy than anything if we took him.

If he goes on scholarship for any other sport but decides to play football also, he counts against the 85 scholarship limit for football. That is a long time NCAA rule that's been on the books since Alabama (and others) would give swimming scholarships to 6'5" 275 lb guys that just so happened to later "walk-on" to the football team.

Too bad. Still sounds like he could run some track if he wanted.

He already has an offer. As soon as he ran that 40, Dan went over & talked to him & told him he had an offer for him.

I just can't see not offering a guy that runs a sub 4.3, unless he's a 125 lbs.
I mean good grief, that's world class speed. I know it was hand timed and not electronically timed but that's blazing fast.
