Beast's Fishing Year In Reveiw (pics)

With the 2014 football season heating up, I'm more or less done fishing for the year. I may go out 1 or 2 more times but it' s pretty much over for me. I wanted to share some of the pics from this year and reminisce on the year that was. Folks said it was a tough year, especially for trout, but I feel like we scratched out a good summer. These aren't pics from every trip but enough to paint the picture. Nothing better than being on the water. Pulling a few fish out is just a bonus and for some weekend warrior fisherman, we got a few.

Spring trip (mid march), awful conditions (wind and rain)

Best crappie of the year for me. Was also march. I'm a rookie crappie fisherman. My first year really trying

Beast Sr's new sled. I thoroughly enjoyed 1st mate'ing and occasionally captin'ing the new vessel. 22' Bulls Bay by Pioneer

East Isle au Pitre. The first marsh island. Love it

Early summer trip. Tough sledding but found a few

Redfish from same trip as above

Quick Sunday trip to Isle au Pitre. Couple trout, couple ground mullet

Another early summer trip with tough bite. Both pics from same trip. Nice bull red and a few trout

Sometimes I run to a spot in the bay for some quick shore action. Always catch something... Both pics from same place this summer

Shot from the Cat Island. Beautiful out there

We fished our butt off and grinded out a nice box in mid summer. Both pics same trip

    Cooked above fish

Horrible wind and rain made a trip with my boys a quick one. One of those carolina rigging live/dead bait on the bottom days. Plenty of action. Middle summer

Cooked the fish at the condo that night

Me and pops fished for a couple days and he manged to lasso a a catfish. No hook in him. Just hooked the line to form a lasso around him. No idea how it happened. Our oddest catching method of the summer.

Next 3 pics are day one of 2-day trip late summer. The sled on the water before sunrise and then 2 marsh shots.

Day 1, caught some decent trout at Brush Island.

Day 2 was brutal. No bait in the water. Fished everywhere. A nice red and a cpl spanish saved the trip. Also caught some bluefish.

That big red got turned into steaks and was made into bbq bull red. Pretty darn good

Great way to end our fishing year (somewhat). Absolutely whacked them with T-Man. Day 1 redfish whacking

Day 2 was a nice trout bite despite it raining. Last time I've fished

Outstanding Beastman! Love y'all's new ship. That's a fine ride for sure. I'm definitely jealous. When you get a chance tell me more about what you did to those bull red steaks.

    BBQ Redfish

I did this because it was a bull red. The bull red's meat is more firm and takes on a consistency more like chicken than fish. It will have some red meat so your best bet is trimming it into steaks. It's firmer consistency makes it perfect for the grill. All I did was season the steak and baste with BBQ like I would BBQ chicken. I've heard that smoking the bull red steaks is awesome as well.

Awesome pics. It's always fun to look back over the year. Sometimes you realize that you did much better than it seemed like in a "slow year". Even if not, it was surely still fun.

Just found an error. One of those marsh shots is cat island. Fixing that now. I'm always down for a good meal on the MSGC Hack

Thanks for the compliments fellas. Even though we never had that big trout limit day it seems like we caught a box in at least the teens every time out which isn't outstanding by any stretch but for all the doomsday reports I heard, I think it was alright.
