Marcus Spears responds to OM fan claiming LSU a bigger rivalry than MSU

An Ole Miss caller on Finebaum tried to pull that crap, calling in when Marcus was there, expecting Marcus to agree with him on their "big rivalry".

As politely as the big man could, he replied that, when he was playing, Auburn was the team they considered their rival, not Ole Miss. He acknowledged that maybe back in the 60's it was different, but not for the players when he played for LSU.

exactly. Literally NOBODY at LSU younger than 60 years old considers Ole Missus a rival

Could anyone factually say that LSU/OM has ever been a bigger rivalry than the Eggbowl? Just curious because it's never been in my lifetime.

Yes. Someone who attended the om lsu games of the late 50's early 60's.

Say you were 6-7 yr old in 1962. That makes you At LEAST 67 if you were born in late 1956.

All that to say, shut the fu?k up if you arent that old.

How would a person who was 6-7 years old at the time "factually" prove OM did or didn't have a bigger rivalry with LSU?

Factually, someone born in 1956 would now be 57 instead of 67

Not trying to take up for the Ole Miss caller but most of them are still living in the 1960's

Factually, I was born in 1956 and I'm 58. But I grew up listening to Jack in the 60's. State and umiss were rivals then too. I consider bama a rival.

Ok so i cant add. But if you went to those games and cared about your team, you'd have a reason to consider the other team your rival.

sine then there hasnt been much reason.

I have always considered umiss and bama our biggest rivals because they were the biggest to my father. When they play I want both to lose.

I've never met an LSU fan that took OM that seriously, not nearly like they do Bama.

People forget that LSU spent a good bit of the 70s, 80s, and early 90s pre Saban being shitty. Nobody was their rival until they became good. And then it damn sure wasn't the asshats in Oxford.

If you ask LSU fans, they'll tell you their rival is Bama now.... 10 years ago it was Auburn.... and so on. Their rival is whoever is the hot team at the time. They don't have a true rival. A true rivalry game happens at the end of the season like State vs OM, Bama vs Auburn, Michigan vs Ohio St, UF vs FSU, UGA vs GTech, etc. This mid season rivalry garbage is just dumb.

Every generation has a team they hate the most. If OM considers LSU a rival, then we should consider Auburn ours because we play that game close every year.... same logic.

I'm pretty sure LSU has more of a rivalry with Tulane than they do with Ole Miss.

Totally agree with your logic about Auburn.
