    Redfish Will Eat Anything

    http://www.nola.com/outdoors/index.s...sh_had_go.html

Great story here about Capt Sonny Schindler, who has emailed me to help out with a question on this board, of Shore Thing Charters finding a 12oz water bottle in the belly of a 27 inch redfish he caught. Never ceases to amaze me what redfish will eat

It also shows how important it is for us to keep our trash out of the water. So many fish and birds are eating things that can't be digested which has to lead to a miserable existence for the animal if not death.

Outstanding point. Capt Sonny talked about how happy he was to catch this fish. Would have been a shame for
That fish to die due to litter.

Redfish are predators, and opportunists, and will eat practically anything in the surf zone, or tidal zone...Small fish, crabs, eels, worms, sand fiddlers, and shrimp....Sometimes you can locate a school of Redfish feeding near the surf by the "oil slick" from all the crushed crabs...Redfish have a crusher in their throat, and can crush a crab to smithereens with it...It will also crush your fingers when unhooking a deep hooked fish........
