Well Phil Steele doesn't have us in his top 25.

Link to the video. I really hope we light shit up this year. We get all these articles written about us but then nobody in the media seems to think we are a top 25 team. Really....Louisville and A&M are better than us with all they have lost? Of course Ole Miss is getting its knob slobbed on per the usual. See below:

    1 FSU
    2 Alabama
    3 Oregon
    4 Auburn
    5 Oklahoma
    6 Ohio State
    7 UCLA
    8 Michigan State
    9 Baylor
    10 South Carolina
    11 Georgia
    12 Stanford
    13 LSU
    14 USC
    15 Notre Dame
    16 Clemson
    17 Wisconsin
    18 Missouri
    19 Texas A&M
    20 Ole Miss
    21 Texas
    22 Washington
    23 North Carolina
    24 UCF
    25 Lousiville

ETA: Forgot to mention this in the original post. This top 25 isn't necessarily his opinion of what it should be but rather what he thinks will actually be relased by AP

I'm kind of surprised he doesn't have us in his top 25. I've heard him talk on the radio and he really nailed it as far as knowing our team....and said we have a chance at 9-10 wins. He also bases his top 25 on where he calculates that teams will end up at the end of the year so if we have 9-10 wins we'd be in the top 25 for sure. Maybe he just thinks we'll be 7-5 or 8-4 and we have a chance at 9-10.

Oklahoma, Stanford, USC, mizzou, and ole miss are all overrated. Probably ND too. I hold off on a&m because they've been recruiting at a very high level for a few years, so they might have the talent to still win 8-9 games and finish around 20 in the rankings.

Also didn't he say that's his projection of what the preseason AP poll would be, not his actual top 25?

He probably meant for us to be 19 or 21, but he got confused because of the uniforms...

    Ha. probably so.

Hell, didn't Clemson lose both, Watkins and Boyd? Think that could be a very lofty ranking for them as well.

Steele is ok, but he does get things muddled at times. He once called Troy an instate school when we played them.

That is a pretty important piece of info. He does well with those predictions. I think we'll be in his top 25.

I'll give him a mulligan. He knows almost everything about every single school in the country. I don't know how all that info doesn't get lost in his head. He's like a computer.

This isn't his preseason poll. This is his projection of what he thinks the preseason AP poll will look like.

We will be in HIS top 25, and probably ahead of TSUN. He puts ALOT of weight into % of returning players/yardage/TDs/experience, etc. (as it should be) and less into prestige and name of the program. We may crack HIS top 20...

I would just as assume be under the radar until it's too late. We seem to do better that way.

At any rate, TAMU being ranked preseason is ok because they won't be ranked by the end of the regular season. JFF and Evans saved their ass countless times. That won't happen this year. I look for them to be an 8-5 type team and maybe even 7-6.

Steele is fine, but he's very overrated. There's really nobody better at predicting what teams will be from year to year than anyone else.

His ranking and projections are based a ton on recruiting rankings, so of course he'll have Ole Miss projected to do fairly well.

I don't get the Texas A&M love, they lost one of the best players in college football history plus the best WR in the SEC and a 1st round OT.

Look at how Florida did they year after Tebow, I see A&M looking very similar.

8 W teams in the sec west usually end up ranked around 20-25. just saying.

it's not like he's projecting the AP to rank a&m in the top 10, he's projecting them to rank a&m around 20.
