    7. State was great at getting off the field on 3rd down yesterday. Only allowed Rice to convert 4-14 3rd downs. For those counting, that's 10 3-and-outs.


    That is incorrect. That is not how the statistic works. They were 4-14 on 3rd downs. That does not mean 10 3-and-outs. Not even close.

    Did we really account for 10 3 and outs? I don't think we had 10 3 and outs... That stat means that out of 14 opportunities to convert on third downs, they succeeded 4 times. That doesn't necessarily mean the result was a "3 and out." They could have converted on a 1st or 2nd down earlier in the drive.

    That is still an impressive stat...

    That is what I pointed out earlier. You can't say 14-4=10. That doesn't give you the number of 3-and-outs. Good article though. WMD does a good job.
