Cliff Godwin
Will Ole Miss be able to pull him away from East Carolina? I sure hope not.

Highly unlikely. He’s at his alma mater
Walk like the King or walk like you don't care who the King is

John Cohen. Scott Stricklin.

John Cohen didnt leave State for another baseball job. Cohen became AD and knew his time may be limited. Took the Auburn job
Loafers got the AD job but he wants to be an SEC/NCAA exec. He saw Fla as a step up to follow someone like Templeton. Loafers never wanted to retire in StarkVegas

If they fire MB, I hope they do....
He won't be any different.

Isn't he a Bianco protege?

He was actually at LSU before Ole Miss.

He can stay at ECU forever and have a legacy type career at his alma mater in a pretty weak baseball conference where they wont face many challenges.
BUT he only makes like $600k per year at ECU. He could go to OM and literally quadruple his salary.
At OM, he would face much tougher competition and would be introduced to the possibility of being fired if he didn't live up to expectations.
So 1) take the easy route and become a legend at your alma mater or 2) take the harder router and become a very very rich man.

I’d take option 2 every single time

Yep. Take the money when you can in almost every circumstance. Building wealth is awesome. I am on pace where my kids and their kids will never have to worry about money.

I would like to private message about that if you can. Going through some similar decisions(but no kids).

We all know Ole Miss will spend whatever it takes, so I fully expect them to get him if they want him

Godwin has always been number 2 on their list behind McDonnell, who's not coming and never was. I would imagine they will target Godwin pretty quickly and then would pivot to Mingione.

McDonnell's star has faded recently.
I think it could go either way with Godwin. As I've said before baseball coaches are different than football coaches and many of them value stability over money and championships.
If they get Mingione I hope they like bunting!

Yeah. 10 years ago he was a hot name and he has done a great job at Louisville but getting him now you're probably getting a guy looking for a big paycheck.
