The premise that a college athlete is a student first and athlete second was sound doctrine. That ship has sailed. The thing is the NCAA was supposed to be the institutions governing themselves but that went south very soon into it anyway. Now the money is way to big and the greed is the overwhelming driving factor so it’s no longer amateur sports at the highest levels. Like a friend of mine said, “ Dad said TV ruined boxing 50 years ago. Now just like then it’s college football’s turn and since it is the money maker everything else will be carried along”. The genie is out of the bottle and there is no putting it back in. It’s a giant shat sandwich.

Admittedly I haven't read all the articles. But I'm arguing with a UT fan on this.

His stance: the ncaa enforced rules that were made up.

Me: no. The ncaa said nil can't be used for pay for play.

Funny how sec fans see what they want.

But the TN judge compared it to negotiating a tv contract. So I guess now schools can tell a hs recruit that they can make $x if they sign with them. ????? Whereas before that was a no-no.

I have no idea. What's up is down and down is up.
