He's just using this rumor to beat the more-money-than-sense Aggies out a few more coins to get him to stay.

The Jimbo contract should have been enough.

You never know where those orders come from. A few key boosters could have told him (and fronted the money) to extend Dumbo's contract. I doubt ADs have much autonomy in big decisions, especially at places like TAMU and the barn.

Nope. best part of the story linked...

Texas A&M is not expected to make a push to keep Bjork.

This isn't complicated. Bjork knows how to play the game and, from all evidence, has no conscious as to what resources to use. That's why Jimbo wanted him there. It's why him and freeze worked so well together. One day people are gonna realize he leaves a mess behind that makes Urban look like a saint.

    Yep... it's done

Interesting note ---- Bjork, 51, will work with Smith on the transition and will officially begin his tenure with the Buckeyes on July 1.

    How is he failing?

Doesn't he routinely convince a grand parents to give TAM $100M checks. That's pretty much A+ work for an AD. TAM ranks #2 for Money Collection ($849M). Ohio State Ranks #11.

College presidents love winning, but they love money more. OSU can hire elite coach head-hunters to help Bjork pick better football coaches. If they gave EliteDawgs a Keg Party with Beer Girls and Pizzas, we could give them a run-down of all the best candidates, help Bjork out.

Football success notwithstanding, I'm not sure OSU is a better place for an AD. This is a great move for Bjork because it resets his clock as far as how long until he gets fired and it seems crazy to me that OSU would hire him, but I'm not sure he's failing upward as much as just failing laterally, which is still a hell of a trick when you're basically at the top level of schools. The Jimbo extension and firing and the coaching search didn't help Bjork at A&M and if Elko tanked, he likely was at risk of losing his job. Day could get on the hotseat if Harbaugh stays and continues to win big, but otherwise, he just has to maintain the current pace and make the playoffs and Bork probably has 5 or 6 years before he has to make a decision that's going to put his job at risk. Then very likely another 3 or 4 years after that before there would be enough of a record to actually get Bjork fired unless he hires a disaster.
