Lockhart didn't blow up until after the early signing period. People would've lost it.
I'm more frustrated that we didn't sign Washington in Dec. and passed on Matthew Bedford. Now we won't get either. This hopefully will be something Joe will learn from and improve on in the future.
We worry about numbers too much. Screw the numbers and get the kids. Stop waiting to see if someone may or may not sign after the signing date (exception being top end talent guys). We could've easily replaced Washington, James, etc. already. Bama over there signing 30+ and we can't get to 25. But, this tells me it's got to do with the school, because we've been doing it for 10 years now.
It doesn't seem like it should be that hard to gameplan. If your plan A isn't willing to sign in December, and Plan B is, then you sign Plan B in December, unless (1) you are fine not getting either or (2) Plan B is basically generic replacement level that we can always sign (in which case he shouldn't be considered Plan B to begin with).
Not sure how it would have shaken out this year if we had approached it like that.
There's a thread on Sixpack saying Charles Moore is suddenly interested in us again and is trying to mend the burned bridges. Anything to it?
Moorhead is back at Louisville High for the second time today. Say what you want about him, but whatever happens this recruiting period wont be because of lack of effort.
Joe and his staff have stayed on these recruits, well, like a Bulldog! It's how we wound up with Cross and a few others and, I believe he will close strong because of this effort. I've seen him in action and the recruiting efforts are light years ahead of where we were.
Not sure why, but the 2nd visit today brought this story to my mind haha
