Looking to purchase a drill for small DYI projects around the house. Not looking to build a barn or anything. Consensus seems to be the 18V Dewalt.

I'll take a dewalt everyday over anything else. They make a great combo drill set - in one case you get the standard drill and an impact drill. I love mine and they're tough as nails.
Never had a Dewalt but I've heard a lot of positives on them. I've got a Fire Storm Black and Decker which I really like.
anything other than a Milwaukee deserves a slap across the face. The. Best. Battery. Drill. Ever.
I've had dealt, Ryobi, black and decker, etc... it's not even close.
Dewalt is easily the 2nd beat though and will work fine for almost everything.
I've got a DeWalt and a Makita and have been happy with both.
Milwaukee, battery is the best.
I've had a John Deere (made by Hitachi) 12 years, never had a problem.
never had a John Deere or a Makita. Heard good things about Makita though.
the Bosch Pocket 12v Driver is worth a look... It's tiny and will drive 3" screws with ease.. I have both the drill/driver and impact driver....
I've used almost brands.
