The NCAA investigation and the threat of more allegations offers Nutt leverage.

If it is a coach, not complying to the request is admission to the violation and hinderence of an investigation. That will get you a show cause. Coaches, staff, student athletes, school officials are required to comply with enforcement staff requests including phone records, interviews (which is why the idea from UNM that they should just refuse to talk was an option was just another absurd fallacy talking point).
Random Poster -- ??? Has anyone said if OM redact all the other calls except between recruits... which weren't many since the "burner" phones were used. If they did redact all other calls -- this will get very interesting.... I sure hope to see ALL the phone records of ALL the coaches present and those terminated......
How many have sent request the phone records???
Without mentioning names he straight up called Yancy a liar and said if any tsun people are getting their hopes up based on what he's saying they're in for a bad time.
I'm sure they are not. That's not my point. My point is that the NCAA has done a 5 year investigation on Ole Miss and if there was anything in those phone records you would think that the NCAA would have already found it as it pertains to something that any of us would care about.
What about the missing emails ?
Nutt is out to drive a stake through the heart of what is left of Hugh Freeze's coaching career and the Ole Miss football program.
I agree 100% ~ the Louisville/Petino case was under investigation at the same time. The NCAA would've had the dogs sniffing out every freaking number on those records and they should've checked into anything even randomly related to strippers/escort services/titty bars, etc. They were investigating for years, they have the resources to conduct a thorough investigation and they should have canvassed ALL phone numbers on record.
For those who think Nutt is looking for a big pay day off this, well he certainly may get that. However , I think the intend is to show Ole Miss that the media and the general public haven't seen anything yet on Ole Miss and Freeze's mistakes compared to forthcoming information revealed from these requested phone records. That was a stupid move on Ole Miss' part trying to take Nutt down while praising Freeze, and now it's payback time and I think they are going at the jugular of Freeze on his so-called mistakes.
I was responding in reference to post #29 above (RandomPoster) who said, "the NCAA checked phone records for recruits numbers. Nothing more. They didn't care about him calling High Coton or whomever else. Didn't pertain to their investigation."
IMO, "if" the NCAA had Freeze's phone records then they should have checked every number on record including random numbers for strippers/escort services, etc. The Louisville investigation was in progress, so strippers/escorts was on the radar.
Even if the NCAA has Freeze's phone records, they probably aren't trying to find out who every single number belongs to. My guess is that's what this former counter terrorism expert is going to do.
Another thing of note is he said after he announced he had those phone records he received a lot more threats so he was going back to the sherriff's dept to file a report. We're obsessed but they're the school who has a lot of fans over an extended period threatening the safety of Steve and his family to the extent he feels the need to file a police report.
Unless I misheard, another nugget I got was Farrar getting new representation after his response/statement. Has he changed course?
