Baseball Postseason changes - now seeding 1-16
The Division I Baseball and NCAA Championship Oversight Committees just approved a significant change to the baseball postseason. Instead of only seeding the top 8 teams, all 16 regional hosts will be seeded. Per D1BB's Kendall Rogers, "It?ll start in 2018 and the format will call for 1 vs. 16, 2 vs. 15, and so on in the super regional round. Should one of those seeds get upset in the regional round, the winner of the regional would replace them as that seed and there would not be a reseeding process, a potential future change that many coaches are still in favor of."
I'm sure Florida State and the Aggies are jumping for joy at this news, as they will be less likely to have to go through Florida and TCU, respectively, in the Super Regional round. Might make travelling to the supers a little more difficult, but should result in more entertaining match-ups.
