For being the self proclaimed "Harvard of the south" they sure are a bunch of idiots!
Another Elitedawgs conspiracy.
If Mars has a sworn affidavit from either a player who had a burner, or a coach who used a burner, it is game over. I have a feeling that one of the coaches screwed up and called a kid's burner from an OM phone (probably Bucky), and that the burner in question had only calls from other burners or OM numbers. From the NCAA perspective, a sworn affidavit given voluntarily from either a former coach involved or a former recruit involved would be considered rock solid evidence. Especially if it is a former recruit who has no connection to the current NOAs - say one from the 2016 or 2017 signing classes.
OM is like the cheating husband that gets busted pants down with a hooker but continues to lie and say it wasn't me. At a certain point you have to just come clean. Continuing to lie and play games just digs a deeper hole and ensures that consequences will be even more devastating.
It's a control thing with OM. They want to own the player by giving them things they can't pay for. They think filling that want/need makes them indispensable, and will make the player loyal. It's how they show "love". Need a phone, we got one. Need a car, we got one - you can even change your mind about what kind. Momma need a house, no problem. Need new furniture? We have store for that. Want OM swag for your crew? Call **** and she will hook you up, here is her card.
It's interesting that their version of love, respect, and loyalty revolves around material things and the perceptions that they bring.
My bet is Kiffin signed the affidavit. Career-wise, he doesn't have much to lose and a lot more to gain at this point than say, Barney, by rolling.
The recruits didn't have the burner phones. The staff did. Bjork asked 20+ staff to sign a piece of paper if THEY DID NOT use a burner phone. Of course, they all signed it. But Mars thinks he knows otherwise, perhaps from a former staffer that said they did. We shall see what becomes of it.
So what's Mars pursuing now? I thought it was a breach of contract case. What's this burner phone angle with mars?
It seems like I saw a screen shot on twitter that was supposed to be from a player's phone and the name at the top said "Barney 2". Why would you list Barney 2 unless you had a Barney 1. That adds up to an official phone and a burner phone for Barney, doesn't it?
Honestly, I don't really think Mars has much of a case....I think he is now just digging for damaging info and trying to use it to strong arm OM into a settlement. I have absolutely no legal knowledge, but with the way he is releasing all of this stuff to the press and trying to hurt OM publicly, that is just the sense that I get.
Well the crux of their case is freeze (and other OM officials) spreading lies to the media about nutt?s role in the violations. That?s how they found freeze?s escort calls by looking through his phone records for numbers matching sports media outlets. It sounds like in freeze?s deposition the burners came up, they probably asked him about whether he used any other phones during this time frame so they could obtain records. Because lying under oath is far more serious than lying to the NCAA, it sounds like freeze came clean about the burners during the depo.
Only the novice player, will get himself checkmated in 2 moves. But Mars is about to get their asses in 5...

It's not rocket science. They told the NCAA they didn't have burners and now there's someone breaking the silence saying that's a lie. if that's the case, you're looking at a complete house cleaning. Ath Dir., Compliance, Football staff, everyone...
At this point do not make assumptions about recruits NOT having burner phones..... just saying
Psst... at least one person lied about a phone....
Because you can use them to contact recruits during dead periods, on recruiting visits to other schools, pick up money from boosters, arrange meeting an escort posing as their potential girlfriend once they got to Ole Miss and etc.
The only reason a school would give a high school player a burner phone is for recruiting purposes.
