I understand the NCAA cannot address a crime - but Baylor remains the most hideous situation of all. Second only to what happen ed at Penn State.
Go back to that paraphrase - the COI has the latitude to inflict pain if it chooses. They will on UNM because UNM has made it easy. This is 100% self-inflicted on their part.
NCAA has to step aside on the crimes, but they can address some of the "misdemeanors". If an athletics program is involved in any cover-up of these crimes, then the NCAA can and should issue penalties.

I don't think NCAA is going to buy their reasoning.
1. If the coaches knew it was going on then they are guilty even if they did not push athlete into the class. I just don't think the NCAA is going to say it was OK to turn a blind eye. Those coaches knew they were letting athletes on the field who should not have be there.
2. Athletes took the class to stayed eligible. So in reality they had ineligible athletes on the field. The will not skate on that.
What I wanted to highlight in the OP was that other member institutions are putting intense pressure on the NCAA to hammer OM. That is exciting to me.
And I also found it interesting that the article states that other ACC members were pushing for a heavy hand towards UNC.Quote:
