Uh...is a holy shit warranted? The 1982 original is one of my favorite films ever, and I'm glad to see the sequel is being done by Villeneuve, who's made some pretty awesome movies so far in his career.

Do you like the director's cut or theater release? I have the director cut at home but haven't watched it in a while. I wonder how they approach it since there is a vast difference between the two.
Official trailer finally released yesterday. Looks epic!

Though reviewers are blocked until next week to release their official reviews, they have posted general reactions to the film. All accounts point to Blade Runner 2049 being a masterpiece of science fiction cinema. I'm ****ing excited. Can't wait to see it next week.
Yes... was hoping a local movie house would play the original around release but nothing since a showing in August.
Just will have to go ahead and buy it I guess. been on my list for a while.
Yep. Actually, there are 3 short films, and 1 of them is an anime. Two have already been released, and they are pretty damn cool. The third will be the anime short.

Just watched it. Was very satisfying. I'm still processing it, but I thought it was awesome.
Some people can't appreciate an actual story that builds. Not everything needs to blow up every 10 minutes. Our attention span is for 10 minute intervals now, it is hard for people to actually pay attention for 2 hours. Fast & the Furious or the Transformers are crap movies. They are just cool to watch the special affects or stunts but as far as an actual plot, there isn't much there. Transformers seems like they write the script as they go to match whatever Michael Bay wants to blow up. Ok, getting off my soapbox now.
Well said, and totally agree. Just think if a film like The Godfather was released today, how would it be received? And Blade Runner 2049 is a great example of that phenomenon in today's cinema culture: it's being overwhelmingly praised by reviewers, yet it is bombing at the box office because people don't want to be challenged to think when going to the movies.
