I'm always paranoid when walking in the woods this time of year. I keep saying I'm going to buy some snake boots, but never get around to it. I saw Dana's story on another site that I frequent and he sure is in good spirits, considering the circumstances. Hope he recovers quickly. He appears to be a great guy.
Snake ignorance is so commonplace now. I love the guy's attitude. My neighbor killed a 5' rat snake this morning, and told everybody it was a copperhead. F*cking idiot.
clearly a good guy. sounds like he'll be ok, but that still sucks.
His description of how the bite felt was scary
Bass Pro's 16" zipper bayou snake boots. It doesn't matter if it is 100 degrees I don't walk in the woods on the hunting lease without them. Because no matter how close you think you are looking it only takes once !!!!!!!!!! My first pair have fang scratches in them, they are good.
I have a pair of snake gaiters that I have had for years. They go onto my boots before turkey season and don't come off until the weather has cooled and I have to layer my clothes in the fall/winter.
